Frank de la Barrera

Biography

Frank de la Barrera began his artistic training in 1995, working as an apprentice and assistant to the artist Noe González in Santa Clara, Cuba. Then, from 1998 to 2002, he studied Fine Arts at the Oscar Fernández Moreira Professional Art School in Trinidad, Cuba.

In 2003, he moved to Barcelona, Spain, where he worked as an assistant to Evaristo Benítez, specializing in lithography and silkscreen printing.

Between 2007 and 2010, Frank split his time between Barcelona and Berlin, Germany, working as a plastic artist, primarily in painting. During this period, he held his first solo exhibitions in Berlin, including the successful show “Der Schwarze Faden” at the Siguaraya Gallery in 2010.

From 2011 onwards, Frank established his own studio in Berlin and began working independently, participating in various group exhibitions. Since then, he has been a frequent artist at the prestigious KW Gallery in Berlin.

In recent years, Frank has expanded his creative focus, venturing into woodwork, kumiko, and lamp creation. Recently, in 2023, he moved to Mérida, Mexico, starting a new chapter in his artistic career.
